Listed below are some of the groups and organizations that currently meet at The United Church of Chester. Telephone numbers and/or links are included if you would like more information. The Church Office (526-2697) can provide you with meeting times and dates.
Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries is a non-profit interfaith community service that provides nourishing meals and/or groceries to people in need. We serve those who live along the Connecticut shoreline in Chester, Clinton, Deep River, East Lyme, Essex, Killingworth, Lyme, Madison, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook. www.shorelinesoupkitchens.org
Senior Estuary Cafe - The Estuary Council of Seniors serves lunch to seniors Monday through Friday at 12:00 at the United Church of Chester Fellowship Hall. Reservations are required the day before by 11:00 a.m. by calling 388- 1611. A donation of $2.50 is requested from seniors 60 years and older. Estuary Senior of Councils website.
Scouting - Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies - Various times.
AA - Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings are held Friday nights at 8:30 in the Pilgrim Fellowship Room. Alcoholics Anonymous® is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. AA Website.
OA - Overeaters Anonymous Meetings are held Wednesday nights at 7:00 in the Parlor. . Overeaters Anonymous offers a program of recovery from compulsive overeating. Worldwide meetings provide a fellowship of experience, strength and hope where members respect one another's anonymity. OA charges no dues or fees; it is self-supporting through member contributions. Chester Garden Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 in the Fellowship Hall.
Chester High School Reunion Committee meets at various times throughout the year.
