"No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here at the United Church of Chester, a member of the United Church of Christ."

OUR MISSION

We are a congregation with an over 266 year history of loving, caring, sharing and serving in Chester, CT and beyond. We hold it to be the mission of the Church that: "Relying on the Holy Spirit to lead us and empower us, we worship God, and witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ with loving service and commitment to justice and peace." Each member shall have the undisturbed right to follow the Word of God according to the dictates of his or her own conscience, under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.

The United Church of Chester was formed over 65 years ago in 1941 by the uniting of two Chester congregations, the Congregational Church (founded in 1740) and the Baptist Church (founded in 1822). In 1948, the two separate sanctuaries were physically joined together to complete the uniting process.

We are a diverse Protestant denomination and are a member of the United Church of Christ, a community of faith that seeks to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.

We welcome all seekers to journey with us.

All are welcome here!

A Light for Peace!

We at the United Church of Chester will keep a candle lit in the window of the church as a reminder to pray for peace and to pray for our men and women in the service. Won’t you keep a candle lit in your home until there is peace?  Candles are available in the narthex and in Fellowship Hall.
